Meeting with Group 1

So in the first meeting with the Media group after Christmas we were informed that the script had changed and that one member of the media group had left.

We were given a copy of the script to look over so we could start making notes and looking at home many microphones we would need for each scene.

We were also shown possible locations for filming, the group wanted to film in a house of some sort but were also looking at Harlaxton Manor because they offer free filming for university students.

Meeting With Dave 10

We had an unofficial meeting with Dave before the deadline because we were concerned about the problems that the media team were having, we went through the processes we took to fix the problems which were mainly due to the inadequate equipment that the media team were provided to listen back to the audio, leading them to believe that the product was bad and not the speakers, we also explained that any other issues were either due to this speaker problem, or were misunderstandings that were cleared up easily.

Certain things that the media team wanted to change were actually cancelled, this is because they had no device to listen to the recording on properly, and so were relying on what they were hearing through university speakers. Once they listened to our work through the Sound Theatre speakers, they completely changed their mind on 90% of the changes they wanted to make, which I think is worth noting, because not all of the 300 students on Media Production will have the same access that we did to actual good quality speakers, and has caused a big problem for our group that wouldn’t have been there in the first place if the media group were provided with working equipment.

Meeting With Dave 9

The film crew gave us a short sample clip as a taster to start recording foley with, so we discussed with Dave how we were approaching recording.

We decided that our best aim would be to create a full edit of the clip to present to the media team so they could hear how their work would come out at the finished product.

This was the last meeting we had with Dave, so we made sure we were ready to deal with the full project before it was too late.

Meeting With Phil

After the problems which arose with the workflow we were invited to a meeting with the media group and Phil, their tutor, to discuss how we were going to progress. Lee sat in with this meeting and reviewed the audio as the group thought that what we had given them was too quiet to sync up to the clapperboard.

Lee was able to confirm that our audio was fine, and that the only way we could help would be to normalise the audio to make the clapper’s peak a little higher for them, but other than that we were not the problem.

At the end of this meeting we were told that we were not needed to attend another unless anymore problems needed solving.
