Meeting with Group 11

Like explained in the “Speaker Problems” post, we were told through friends that the media group weren’t happy with our work at all, and were interested to see what the problem was as they weren’t replying to us over chat, so we were able to run into them in the editing suites to find out the problem.

As this later developed we found out that the problem was that the media group weren’t hearing what we had made, and so thought that we were being untruthful about the work we had done, which, from listening through the speakers that they were forced to work with, is very understandable.

We moved to the sound theatre for a final listen through and made any tiny tweaks that the group had in mind but over all they were shocked at just how different the film sounded through working speakers and were very apologetic for the misunderstanding.

This time the group officially stated that they were happy to sign off on the audio that we had made.

Meeting with Group 10

Again unfortunately due to work I was unable to attend this watch through, but Callum presented our product to the group for a second watch through after our amendments had been made.

For the dialogue in the club scene we weren’t given any clear instructions on how to change it so Callum showed them how to cut it out if they didn’t want it in anymore, and in this meeting as far as we know the group was happy to sign off on the audio that we had made.

Meeting with Group 9

I was unable to attend this meeting because I was at work but I was kept up to date over Facebook.

Callum and the group sat and watched the first mix we had presented to the group, and he took notes on things that they wanted changing for the next meeting, after taking a break from listening to the sound we were able to see some of the things that the group were picking up on, such as foley and atmos being way too loud in the mix, and certain spot effects being way too loud in relation to the rest of the mix.

The same evening we sat down and amended all of these issues, ready to give a second draft to the group the next day.

Meeting with Group 8

We organised this meeting because we became aware of a lot of dead space in a phone call at the start of the film, as well as a lot of potential plot holes and a general lack of narrative to the film.

For this meeting we had recorded two versions for the phone call; the original version, and the version that we created.

We first showed them what we had recorded instead of the original, while making them 100% aware that we had recorded the original version and so could drop that version in instead without any trouble.

Both Kelly and Gabby said that they liked the revision, and were happy for us to use that instead of the original, so we sent them our notes so they could add it to the script.
